Cristin Mathew, DO brings an innovative and compassionate approach to orthopedic surgery and sports medicine.
Dr. Mathew began his medical pursuits at the College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. During his time there, Dr. Mathew worked closely with Virginia Tech athletes, an experience that fostered his passion for sports medicine.
After earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Mathew completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Northwell Health Plainview Hospital in Plainview, New York. He excelled on staff, obtaining the title of chief resident. Dr. Mathew subsequently moved to Houston, Texas, and participated in a year of fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery at Houston Methodist.
As part of this prestigious fellowship, Dr. Mathew served on the medical staff of the 2017 World Series Champions Houston Astros. In this position, he trained under many exceptional surgeons and used his sports medicine knowledge to help elite athletes improve their performance on the field. In addition to working with athletes in the MLB, Dr. Mathew has also served on staff with Rice University Athletics, the Houston Rockets, and the Houston Texans. He is currently the team physician for the Houston Athletic Rugby Club as well as several local schools.
Dr. Mathew uses a modern approach to sports medicine and pain management.
